To best serve the needs of industry, the city of Smackover has developed a 184 acre industrial park that is owned and operated by the Smackover Industrial Development Corporation (SIDC). SIDC was organized specifically to work with manufacturers who are looking for a suitable plant location in Smackover, as well as to help the city's established industries stay competitive and profitable.
Electric power and natural gas are available at the industrial park at very competitive rates, through Entergy and ArkLaTex. Deep artesian wells provide plenty of water to the park through the city's own municipal system.
Smackover is represented on the Union County Industrial Board, a county-wide organization designed to promote industrial and economic development. Because of UCIB there is a pool allowing Smackover to offer financial and strategic planning assistance to companies interested in locating a manufacturing plant in the city.
Smackover and the surrounding area is the home of an excellent labor force. The schools, colleges, and other training centers in Smackover and the surrounding area offer a number of excellent educational programs to meet the training and technological needs of industry..
All of this is located close to rail access and only minutes away from a major 4 lane highway and minutes away from the proposed freeway.
